A small

flame. A whole

generation of light.

In 2007, a small circle of Hyderabad families refused to accept that their children's lives had ceilings.

They rented a room, gathered five more families, and called the project LIGHT - the invisible fire in you. Seventeen years later, that ceiling is a sky.

A slow, deliberate timeline.

2007

SINCE 2007

Five moments where the room grew, quietly.

Registered as a Society

LIGHT is founded under the Societies Act. A rented room. Six children. A single conviction: dignity is not means-tested.

2010
Sky Special School opens

The flagship day-school for individuals with intellectual disabilities begins full-time operations in Tatti Annaram, Hyderabad.

2014
Vocational unit launches

Spice powders, millet laddus, and paper bags - the first products roll out. Students begin earning stipends.

2019
Self-Advocacy movement

Our students speak at the National Conference in Palakkad and Mumbai. They stop asking permission. They begin asking questions.

2024
17 years and counting

12 alumni now hold jobs in our production unit. Hundreds of families have moved from shame to self-worth.

Our Vision

Illuminate lives through the integration of spiritual wisdom and humanitarian service.

LIGHT began with a simple belief - every mind, however it moves, is worthy of light. What started as a single spark has grown into a small constellation of programmes serving Hyderabad's most under-served.

Our Mission

Empowering lives through social responsibility, inclusivity, equality and community uplift.

Our flagship - Sky Special School - offers a free, flexible day-school for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Alongside it we run Light Brundas (women's collective), Little Buddhas (children's club), creative learning centres, and a referral service (Light IRS).

Our Way

Family-centric, child-first, unhurried. Free of cost. Radically inclusive.

Our faculty includes mothers of our children. Our production unit pays stipends to graduates. Our approach is small on purpose - because attention is the truest form of love.
